A stable SCDC or SID number is the safest link between a current prison detail, a historical discharge row, and a supervision result. Names, ages, and county fields should still be compared. If the committing county differs from expectations, check the sentencing order rather than assuming the result is wrong. A Darlington arrest can lead to conviction elsewhere, and a Darlington conviction can lead to confinement and discharge at an institution in another part of South Carolina.
SCDC Detainers and Release Types
A state release date does not identify every next step. Exported data can include a detainer indicator, showing that another authority may have an interest in custody. SCDC Releases for Darlington Cases
SCDC is South Carolina's state prison system. No physical SCDC prison was verified in Darlington County. A person sentenced in a Darlington court may be transferred from W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center to an institution elsewhere in the state. That transfer ends county-jail placement but does not release the person into the community.

A former state inmate should therefore disappear from that current-only search.
The Released Inmate Search is the historical route. It requires a release-date-from and release-date-to value plus a county. It offers an optional sex-offender control, shows ten matches at a time, and supports export. It does not provide a direct person-name field, so the user must choose a reasonable interval and review the returned identities.

Search Current SCDC Custody
Use an SCDC number or State Identification number when known, because an agency identifier is safer than a name alone. Otherwise use the available name and dropdown search options. Open the detail report and compare the photograph, SCDC and SID numbers, name, sentence information, committing county, institution, and projected release date. The public snapshot reflects the prior midnight, so a same-day order or move may not appear at once.

A supervised reentry or probation value signals a community status that may remain under SCDPPPS control. Even a RELEASED value should be read beside the detainer and supervision data. The county filter is best treated as committing county, not the physical exit site or intended residence.

SCDC Current Search Limits
The current-search disclaimer is a core part of the workflow. A search failure can be correct because the person was released, stayed on a county sentence, moved solely to community supervision, is a juvenile, or falls within another excluded class. It does not establish that the person never had a state case.

Confirm an SCDC Discharge
A strong confirmation uses more than one label. Compare the SCDC ID or SID, full name, committing county, sentence information, release date, release type, and detainer indicator. Crime victims seeking SCDC offender notifications must register through the SCDC Division of Victim Services at 1-800-835-0304. That registration is distinct from county notification and from SCDPPPS parole-hearing notice. An adult transfer between agencies can require new SC VINE registration.
SCDC and Darlington Facilities
W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center is a county jail run by the Darlington County Sheriff's Office. Its local release and movement record is the first source for bond, dismissal, time served, short local terms, and transfers. Darlington County Prison Camp is a separate minimum-security work facility. For Camp residents serving an SCDC-designated sentence, the statewide tools remain the main sentence and discharge route.
These boundaries prevent two errors. A person transferred from W. Glenn Campbell to SCDC was not released into the community. After an SCDC Release
State discharge can lead to parole, probation, community supervision, supervised reentry, another detainer, or an end to custody without current supervision. Parole is conditional release before the maximum term. Probation is imposed by a court. Community supervision may follow certain prison terms under state law. The SCDC release type is the starting point, not a complete account of every later duty.
