Prison Camp Identity Checks
Names alone can produce false matches. Use date of birth, case number, SID, or SCDC number whenever available. Compare the sex, age, committing county, sentence, and facility details returned by an official system. If the person has no SCDC identifier, do not force the case into the state search. The county or sentencing court may hold the only relevant record. When a state identifier does exist, preserve it through current custody, transfer, historical discharge, and supervision checks so each result belongs to the same person.
After a Prison Camp Release
Completion of physical custody does not always complete the legal term. A state inmate may enter parole, probation, community supervision, or supervised reentry. Parole is conditional release before the maximum term. Probation is ordered by a court and can follow a split sentence. Check SCDPPPS and SC VINE when the SCDC release type points to a continuing status.
The Darlington court file remains useful for a locally sentenced Camp resident. It can show the original sentence, later amendments, jail credit, probation terms, and revocation orders. Yet it is not a real-time movement log. Ask the Camp or county for the recorded exit and destination. SC VINE notifications do not automatically follow every transfer, so a county-to-SCDC move can require new registration. Darlington Prison Camp Releases
The Darlington County Prison Camp, also called the Prison Farm, is separate from W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. The county describes it as a minimum-security, all-male work facility. A person may complete a local term there, but the facility also houses state inmates approved under an SCDC designated-facility arrangement. That distinction controls the release record.
For a local term, confirm completion with the county and the court that imposed the sentence. For an SCDC term served at the Camp, SCDC remains the sentence administrator. A departure can also be a transfer back to an SCDC institution rather than release into the community. Ask for the destination and authority, not only whether the person left the Camp.
Identify the Prison Camp Sentence
The first task is to determine whether the sentence is local or state-administered. The court's sentencing order, an SCDC identifier, and the facility record can resolve that issue. The county and SCDC screen and approve designated-facility transfers under SCDC policy OP-21-05. Physical placement at a county address does not convert an SCDC sentence into a county sentence.

Do not assume that a missing person was discharged. The Camp may have sent the person to another state location, and an online snapshot may lag a same-day movement.
Confirm Darlington Prison Camp Release
No official Camp-specific public release list, release-hours policy, or online photo system was verified. The detention center's advertised 24-hour discharged-person page should not be presented as a complete Prison Camp feed. Use a direct, sentence-based process instead.
- Confirm the person's full name, date of birth, case number, and SCDC or SID number if one exists.

Darlington Prison Camp SCDC Search
SCDC's current Incarcerated Inmate Search is for people sentenced to and incarcerated in the state system as of the prior midnight. Search by SCDC number or SID when known, then compare the name, photograph, sentence information, committing county, institution, and projected release date. A projected date is a calculation that may change. It is not an actual discharge entry.
After release, move to the distinct SCDC Released Inmate Search. It requires a release-date range and county and does not provide a direct name box. Visible results can include SCDC ID, name, sex, race, age, sex-offender indicator, release date, release type, and county. Exported data can add SID, detainer indicator, victim indicator, and most serious offense. Read values such as RELEASED, SUPV RE-ENTRY, and PROBATION with any supervision and detainer data.
The county filter is best treated as committing county. It does not promise that the person walked out of a building in Darlington or planned to live there. If the filter is uncertain, export the result and ask SCDC how the county was assigned.
Darlington Prison Camp Records
A targeted record request should identify the person, case, approximate interval, and exact existing documents. Ask for the release or movement entry, recorded date and time, authority, destination or receiving agency, sentence identifier, and case numbers. Electronic delivery reduces handling and avoids asking staff to create a custom report.
South Carolina FOIA allows reasonable fees based on actual search, retrieval, and redaction cost. Staff cost may not exceed that of the lowest-paid qualified employee, and an advance deposit may not exceed 25 percent of the expected cost. For records no more than 24 months old, the general timetable is ten business days for an availability decision and thirty calendar days for production. Older records use twenty business days and thirty-five calendar days, subject to deposits and agreed extensions.

Darlington Prison Camp History
The county says the Prison Camp dates to the early 1930s and has a capacity of 51. Those figures belong to this facility and should not be replaced with the detention center's capacity or population percentages. It is described as minimum security and all male, with a work-facility role distinct from the pretrial jail.
The official Prison Camp page describes structured work, literacy and vocational activity, life coaching, and reentry programming. These facts provide facility context. They do not prove a particular release date or legal status. Only the sentence record, agency calculation, and release or movement entry can establish when custody ended and whether supervision or another hold followed.
Prison Camp Release Records Explained
A court order can show the legal basis for the sentence, credits, amendments, and completion. It cannot always show the precise physical exit. Likewise, an SCDC projected release date forecasts when terms may be satisfied under current assumptions. It can change because of sentence structure, jail credit, disciplinary credit changes, a new sentence, a detainer, or legal recalculation.
The actual release record should state the date, type, and destination when those fields exist. If probation or another community status begins, compare the result with SCDPPPS and SC VINE. A person serving an SCDC sentence can leave the Camp yet remain confined elsewhere. A local sentence can end while another warrant takes control. The term “released” should therefore be reserved for a confirmed end to that agency's custody, with the next status identified.
Prison Camp and County Jail
The Prison Camp is at 200 Camp Road. W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center is at 2349 Rogers Road and serves as the county's principal adult pretrial jail. The two operations have different populations, roles, and online evidence. W. Glenn Campbell's county page advertises a 24-hour discharged-person route. No equivalent Camp feed was verified.
A municipal arrest may also move through the county jail without ever involving the Camp. Conversely, an approved state inmate may serve time at the Camp while SCDC remains responsible for sentence data. Always begin with the named facility and administering authority. This avoids sending a county request to SCDC for a local term or treating a state release search as proof about a person who was never committed to SCDC.
